Handling of personal data

Personal data is information that can be used to identify a natural person, i.e. information that can be used to identify individuals. This includes, in particular, names, email addresses, personal numbers, matriculation numbers or telephone numbers. But also data on preferences, hobbies, memberships or information about websites that have been visited count as personal data.

We only collect, use and pass on personal data if this is permitted by law or if the users have consented to the data collection.

The data of the employees of the Technical University of Darmstadt for the purpose of personnel administration, teaching, research and examination activities are collected and processed on the basis of the Hessian University Act, the Enrollment Ordinance of the State of Hesse, civil service and personnel law regulations.

Handling of application data for an employment relationship

Applicants’ data are collected and processed for the proper implementation and until the application process has been completed in accordance with the principles of selection of the best and for any subsequent establishment of an employment relationship. The data is processed on the basis of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Hessian Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act (HDSIG).

The application data will be stored after the collection for as long as this is necessary, taking into account the relevant retention periods for the respective task fulfillment, possibly also with regard to documentation obligations. The transmitted / provided data is regularly deleted after six months at the latest if there is no employment relationship.

Recipients of personal data (Art. 4 No. 9 GDPR)

The application data will be passed on to:

  • the department, the department, the facilities or the area to which the applicant has applied,
  • the Department of Personnel and Legal Affairs (Dec. VII),
  • the staff council, the equal opportunities officer, if necessary the representatives for severely disabled persons and if necessary the youth and trainee representatives to safeguard the respective rights of participation.

Access data / server log files

When accessing the pages of this web server, the following data is generally stored in the server log files:
